About SSVO
The purpose of SSVO is to:
Promote the development and training of veterinary ophthalmology.
SSVO aims to:
- Work for further education in ophthalmology.
- Disseminate information about SSVO to both the veterinary profession and the general public.
- Collaborate nationally with related disciplines.
- Collaborate internationally with interest groups in veterinary ophthalmology.
The eye panel
SSVO includes the "Eye Panel", which consists of veterinarians who are specially trained and authorized to diagnose hereditary eye diseases in dogs and cats (so-called eye doctors).
Training
SSVO is the principal provider of ophthalmology training. Training for authorized ophthalmologists is carried out according to established requirements and in collaboration with a supervisor who is an authorized ophthalmologist.
Meetings
Every spring (usually in March) an annual meeting is held, and in connection with it a course day on eye diseases. The annual meeting is mandatory for panel members and aspirants.
In the autumn, a Nordic eye meeting is held, where the Nordic countries also have association meetings. A slide test is held for the aspirants, where even active eye doctors can test their knowledge. In addition, a rewarding course is always arranged. Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland take turns holding the Nordic meetings.
Membership fee
The membership fee is currently SEK 500. Contact the board if you would like to become a member of SSVO or have questions about our activities.
